Maintenance Instructions

1. Wear Your Aligners Like a Pro
Your aligners should be in your mouth all day, every day 24/7 — the only time they come out is when you’re brushing or cleaning them.
Pro tip: Cutting back on sugary or acidic food and drinks can help keep your aligners (and your teeth) in great shape.
2. Cracked Tray? Keep It In!
If your aligner cracks, don’t toss it! Continue wearing it until we advise otherwise. A damaged tray still helps maintain your progress better than no tray at all. Call us when this happens.

3. Lost a Tray? Here’s What to Do
If you misplace your current tray, go back to wearing your previous one to preserve your alignment. Let us know as soon as possible — we can assess the need for replacements or reattachments at your next visit.
4. Mild Gum Irritation? No Worries
Experiencing some gum tenderness or irritation? It’s common, especially in the early stages. A bit of orthodontic wax from your local pharmacy can make a big difference.

5. Feeling Sore? Relief Is Simple
Mild soreness is normal as your teeth shift. Over-the-counter pain relief like Advil, Motrin, or Ibuprofen can help — just be sure it’s safe for you to take. When in doubt, check with your doctor.
6. Keep It Clear: Watch for Staining Foods
Avoid foods and drinks that stain — particularly those with turmeric, mustard, curry, or anything with strong yellow coloring. Bright yellow trays are not the look we’re going for!
